Auto Skills (Reading) C.I.C.

Auto Skills (Reading) C.I.C. - formerly known as 'Skidz - The Reading Motor Project Ltd', specializes in providing Motor Mechanics training to young people in and around the town of Reading. It is a Community Interest Company (company number 10659244) and is dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of young people aged 8 to 16 by offering accessible training opportunities.

Learners from the age of 14 have the option to complete the City and Guilds 3902 in Light Vehicle Maintenance.

We also offer bespoke 16+ training courses by special arrangement.

Auto Skills' area of expertise is engaging young people at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and supporting them in a practical, active environment to gain experience and qualifications that will teach them life skills and help them in future employment.

I work in a PRU as a Practical Skills Instructor. For years I have seen the mechanical confidence and ability of different pupils grow as they work with Auto Skills, clearly the approach taken to the necessary theory works as well as the hands on workshop experience, and several pupils (male and female!) have gone on to College and apprenticeships.
